Aerospace company Boeing on Friday confirmed that China had committed to an initial order of 200 aircraft, marking the nation's first major purchase of US-made commercial jets in nearly a decade.

The agreement initiates a reopening of the Chinese market to Boeing after years of halted orders and deliveries. The agreement also includes options and the potential for up to 750 additional planes, which would make it one of the largest orders in aviation history.
