


The subcommittee to prepare MoU for bilateral trade enhancement between Myanmar and China convened its first coordination meeting.
Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan gave remarks concerning instructions for MoU preparations, formation of the subcommittee to facilitate the work process, efforts for value-added agricultural products, trading under the laws, rules and regulations, weighing up pros and cons to ensure the steady trade flow and further coordination activities.
U Htay Lwin, head of the Kachin State Agriculture Department, in his capacity as chair of the subcommittee, explained matters regarding protocols and guidance on how to meet the criteria for exports of tissue-culture banana and other banana varieties. Kachin State ministers and officials from the related departments and the crop producer association also analyzed the needs.
Another meeting also discussed matters of maize silage production, packaging and exports to China as feed stuffs. The chief minister encouraged the production of maize silage as feedstuffs and value-added products and urged the stakeholders to adhere to the Good Agricultural Practices.
The Century Sun Investment and Development Co., Ltd reported on a project developed on 200 acres of land in Tarlawgyi Village to produce and package maize silage to export to China.
