Bilateral Relations: Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker receives Vietnamese Minister

Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi received a delegation led by Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, at the Hluttaw building in Nay Pyi Taw on the afternoon of August 26.

During the meeting, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker stated that the Myanmar-Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Group has already been formed in the Pyithu Hluttaw to promote friendly parliamentary relations, expressing a desire to cooperate in sectors such as youth, women, and technology.

He noted that Myanmar has been involved since the inception of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Organization (AIPO) and is also a member state of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). He affirmed Myanmar's readiness to cooperate with the National Assembly of Viet Nam on the international stage, as well as in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the IPU.

He added that he recognizes the Communist Party of Viet Nam's good relations with many countries, and that the Union Solidarity and Development Party wishes to enhance relations with the Communist Party of Viet Nam. In response, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister stated that the friendly diplomatic relations between the two countries have reached a long standing.

He expressed congratulations on Myanmar's successful holding of the general election and the subsequent formation of the government and parliaments. He shared that Viet Nam will share its development strategies, requested continued care and assistance for Vietnamese citizens residing in Myanmar, and reaffirmed that they will cooperate in youth, women, and technology sectors through the parliamentary friendship groups. Furthermore, he assured that Viet Nam will always support Myanmar on the international front and cooperate within the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
