Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida welcomed the visit of U.S. President Joe Biden in Tokyo on Monday. Biden assured Kishida that the U.S. remains fully committed to Japan's defense and announced the launch of a new Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.

It will help the United States and Asian economies work more closely on issues including supply chains, digital trade, clean energy, worker protections and anticorruption efforts.

Meanwhile, the US President also meets Japanese Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Biden is in the midst of a five-day visit to South Korea and Japan, the first trip to Asia of his presidency.
