Better Transportation: New Bridge opened in Taninthayi Region

Bawdhi Kam Bridge on Taninthayi-MawTaung raod was opened on Thursday. The bridge is 787 ft long and was constructed by the Construction Group (4) of the Bridge Department under the Ministry of Construction.

Member of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun said in order to provide better transportation in the region, promote the socio-economic life and tourism development, Phayagyi-Kawtthoung road (ASEAN Road No.112), connecting Yangon and Bago Regions and Mon State, has been upgraded, and it benefits for smooth flow of commdities in ASEAN region as it connects with the economic corridors in Greaer Mekong Region.

It also creates job opportunities and contributes for regional development. Moreover, Dawei Special Economic Zone is one of the largest SEZ in Myanmar and it will connect with Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam through sea route, railway and motor road.

He called for cooperation of the national brethren in implementing for peace process, establishment of democracy and federal union and development works.

Build across the NgaWun Creek, Bawdhi Kam Bridge is the reinforced concrete type with bored pile foundation and it can withstand 60 tons of loads.

Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and party later visited Palm Oil Factroy in BoatPyin and inspected the production process. The officials from palm oil companies also explained the cultivation and production of palm oil and operation of the factory.
