Belgium celebrated a "traditional" National Day on Thursday after two years of subdued festivities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In Brussels, the country's King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their four children, as well as several members of the government, including Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, watched on as the capital hosted military and civilian parades. The day also included a traditional "party in the park", with military and emergency service stands. In the evening, a concert was held in Brussels' Cinquantenaire Park with artists from both francophone and Flemish communities peforming, followed by a fireworks display, set to fill the sky with colour.
