Belgian King honoured veterans during the traditional parade for the Belgian National Day in Brussels on Sunday. King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their four children watched the parade with several ministers of the federal government and the mayor of Brussels.
The Belgian King saluted and greeted veterans, thanking them for their contribution to the liberation of Belgium, 75 years after the end of World War II. The attractions included planes flying over and producing coloured smoke in the style of the Belgian flag, military vehicles dating back to the World War II, marching soldiers and modern military equipment. The Belgian National Day commemorates the day that Leopold of Saxe-Coburg took the oath as the first king of the Belgians in 1831.
