Basketball Tournament: Mandalay Region emerges championship

Mandalay Region emerged championship at the 2026 Region and State Basketball Tournament held in Taunggyi Township of Shan State.

The team won championship in both men's and women's 5-on-5 events, 2nd prize in men's 3-on-3 event and two best player awards. On August 13th, a ceremony to honour the victory basketball team was held at the Mandalay Region Government Office.

Chief Minister U Myo Aung attended the ceremony and made a speech, expressing words of honour to the winning athletes and urged all to keep trying hard to become selection athletes of the country. Then, the Championship Trophy was handed over to the Chief Minister who in turned presented cash awards to the winners.
