Bank of Japan chief holds his last news conference

Haruhiko Kuroda held his last news conference as governor of the Bank of Japan on Friday as his decadelong term ends on Saturday. Kuroda is stepping down April 8, after serving two five-year terms as BOJ chief.

Kuroda said in a news conference that it was regrettable that the 2% price stability target was not achieved in a sustainable and stable manner due to the long-term experience of deflation, the norm based on the assumption that wages and prices will not rise has persisted.The 78-year-old Kuroda said while he doesn’t plan to work full-time after stepping down, he may teach at a university
