Back home with medals: Myanmar Won Medals in 54th ABBS Championship

Myanmar athletes competed and grabbed the medals in 54th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship event held in the Maldives from 17th to 21st July. 3 males and 3 female athletes from the Myanmar Bodybuilding and Physique Sports federation competed and grabbed the medals awards in the championship.

The Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship is held every year and organized by Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (ABBF). ABBF is comprises the union of the different national federations governing the sport for both men and women, on the basis of the one federation per country.

Kyaw Than, Vice Chairman, Myanmar Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Federation said "There are 24 participating countries and the most powerful one was India because there are about 80 athletes from India competed in this competition. Thailand and Vietnam also competed with around 20 athletes. In this competition, the best 5 players were selected according to the order of the Championship. We secured the medals by representing Myanmar. "

Myanmar won the gold medal in the women’s above 160-cm event and the silver medal was awarded in men’s 70-kilo event.

Aye Thandar Khaing, Athlete said "I am very happy to grab the medal among the competitors from many competing countries. There are around 100 female athletes from other countries. And Mongolia and Hungary were the main competitors for me."

Ye Tun Naung, Athlete said "As for me, I won the silver medal again after the previous match and I am so happy. There were more than 100 male athletes from 24 countries in this competition. The main competitors were from India, Thailand and Vietnam. They also got various awards. I continuously prepared for this event after previous competition and it was very hard work. "

In this year championship, Myanmar won the total of 8 prizes included 1 gold and 1 silver. In 2019, Myanmar grabbed 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals in Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship held in Indonesia.
