Awareness Training: ‘Gender, CEDAW, NSPAW, UNSCR 1325’

Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Wednesday launched ‘Gender, CEDAW, NSPAW, UNSCR 1325’ online awareness training for members of women’s assocations.

In this training opening, Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khine stressed that in addition to children, women, the elderly and the disabled protection works and social protection tasks, the Ministry has been implementing the Joint Communique on Prevention and Response to Conflict Related Sexual Violence by forming national and work committees.

Also, there are Protection and Prevention of Violence against Women (PoVAW) Bill writing, opening of One-Stop Women's Support centres opening and receiving reports via telephones, viber and messenger. Moreover, there are 11 domestic training school, 2 women development centers and many other centers for women.

The Union Minister expressed her hope that trainees would cooperate for women development and urged them to share the knowledge with other women to get women’s rights. 36 members of  women’s assocations across Myanmar joined this 2-day training. The training is concerned with Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (NSPAW) and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325.
