Awarding Ceremony Lifetime, literary and manuscript awards presented

The National Lifetime Award for Literary Achievement, National Literary Award and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award ceremony for 2021 was held at MICC-II in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Vice Senior General Soe Win and many other high-ranking officials as well as awardees attended this Ceremony.

The event began with a speech by the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, stressing the important role of literary for the country and its people. After his speech, the Senior General, Vice Senior General, SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, SAC member General Mya Tun Oo, SAC member Admiral Tin Aung San, SAC member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, SAC member Mahn Nyein Maung, SAC member Daw Aye Nu Sein and Union Minister for Information U Maung Manung Ohn awarded the National Lifetime awards for Literary Achievement to 4 winners, the National Literary awards to 9 winners and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript awards to 28 winners.

The National Lifetime awards for Literary Achievement were awarded to Sayagyi U Myat Thu (Tekkatho Myat Thu), U Ohn Maung (Myinmu – Maung Naing Moe), Sayagyi Dr. Myo Thant Tin and Sayamagyi Dr. Ma Tin Win for their commitment to lifetime outstanding and excellent performances for the development of Myanmar literature.

The National Literary awards were awarded in 9 genres of collected short stories, belle-letter, Myanmar culture and arts, youth literature, translation (Knowledge), and general knowledge (Arts), general knowledge (Applied Science), English language (Knowledge) and English language (Aesthetic).

The Sarpay Beikman Manuscript awards were awarded in genres of novel, collection of short stories, collection of poems, general knowledge (arts), general knowledge (pure science and applied science), belle-letters, Myanmar culture and fine arts, children’s literature, youth literature, drama and translation.

This ceremony came to an end with Sayagyi U Myat Thu (Tekkatho Myat Thu) on behalf of the awardees expressing words of thanks for acknowledging their literary works, and a performance by artistes from the Ministry of Information.
