

Australian Governor-General David Hurley met with Vietnam's President and Prime Minister on Tuesday, in an attempt to boost bilateral ties as the two countries mark their 50th anniversary of the country's diplomatic relationship.
After welcome ceremony, Hurley held talks with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong at the presidential palace.Vietnam and Australia upgraded the relationship to a comprehensive partnership in 2008 and ten years later, to a strategic partnership, the highest level of a diplomatic relation.
During his state visit to Hanoi, Hurley also met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly VuongDinh Hue.
