Australian FM hails 'first step' on jet fuel cooperation with China

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Wednesday that the Chinese ‌government had agreed to cooperate with Australian businesses on jet fuel shipments.

Penny Wong, Australian Foreign Minister said "Following Prime Minister Albanese's discussions with Premier Li, where they agreed to increase communication and coordination on energy security, I can confirm that the Chinese government is facilitating engagement with Australian businesses on jet fuel” .

Wong was in China as part of Eastern Asia tour with Australia seeking to keep ties with Beijing on a steadier ​footing while coordinating with regional powers on energy security. Australia, which imports most of its fuel, has ​experienced localized shortages since the Middle East conflict.
