Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced the country would be replacing a maritime patrol boat in Samoa, amid security concerns in the Pacific region. Wong said Wednesday in Apia during a press conference with Samoa's Prime Minister that Australia understood the importance of maritime assets to island nations. The Prime Minister added that she believed the region needed to meet in unity before deciding whether or not to sign onto a sweeping agreement with China.
