


The 2nd workshop on Oceans and Fisheries between Southeast Asia and the Republic of Korea was held online on Tuesday afternoon.
A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi participated in the discussion. The workshop aimed to identify common areas of cooperation to improve the marine environment and the development of sustainable fisheries sectors.
Deputy Minister Dr. Aung Gyi elaborated that Myanmar would work together with member nations to avoid litter and pollution by maintaining a healthy marine environment and eradicating illegal fishing for the long-term sustainability of the fishery.
This workshop is designed to expand joint fisheries management in collaboration with local fishers in inshore waters, identify fish resources conservation zones in offshore fishing, protect fish habitats for an increase in fish resources, and develop saltwater aquaculture technologies and research.
