ASEAN Cyber Kids Camp: 2 Myanmar Students Win Gold Prize

2 Myanmar students won gold prize at the ASEAN Cyber Kids Camp-2019, scratch programming in Hanoi, Vietnam that was held from 13th to 14th of August.

9-year old Myanmar representative students from B.E.H.S (1) (Dagon) and ICTC private school (Muse) who were selected from Region/State Level Competitions, won the gold prize at the ASEAN Cyber Kids Camp-2019 in Vietnam.

The event is aimed to enhance the students' skills in adaptability, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, working in a team, ability to use ICT creatively as well as raising awareness on cross-cultural issues.

Teacher, B.E.H.S-2 (Zeyawaddy), Thaw Zin Aung said “They have been already familiar with basic computer and coding system in their respective schools. So, I gave them some ideas to conceptualize for the project. They can speak English very well among the other contestants.”

There are two parts of competition- the contestants prepared about 7 hours project in the 1st day and they presented their presentation to the judges in 2nd day of competition. This year topic for the Myanmar team is “Climate change or global warming”. 

10 judges from ASEAN member countries scrutinized the winners with 10 different topics at the competition.

Gold prize Winner, Su Myat May said “This is my first time international experiences. I learnt about 1-month basic programming for the competition with my colleague. I got first prize and I’m really happy. I would like to be a teacher. And I also love the English language as well. I will participate in other competitions.”

The participants comprised of students aged between 7 and 12. A total of 20 students with their instructors from the 10 ASEAN member states joined the event.
