




ASEAN Conference and Workshop on Family Development Network, hosted by the Philippines from 12th to 14th May, opened with discussions focused on strengthening family development and social protection systems across the ASEAN region.
Chairman of ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development Union Minster for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win attended the event via video conferencing system. During the opening ceremony, the Union Minster highlighted the importance of implementing the ASEAN Declaration on Gender Equality and Family Development and the Bandar Seri Begawan Declaration on the Importance of the Family in Society and Nation-Building to support and strengthen families.
The meeting emphasized the need for inclusive and flexible social protection systems that can effectively reach vulnerable groups through family-centered policies and support measures. Discussions also focused on promoting integrated approaches and balanced systems to improve access to education, healthcare, social services, and livelihood opportunities for families across ASEAN member states, it’s learnt.
