The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Union Election Commission issued an Announcement Regarding Applications for Domestic and International Election Observers for the General Election on September 16.
In the announcement, it’s stated that the Union Election Commission has announced that the multi-party democracy general election will begin on December 28, 2025. Domestic election observers wishing to observe the election, can now apply for an observer permit.
Applications can be submitted to the UEC and to the respective Region/State, district, and township election sub-commissions from September 16 until December 5, 2025. On September 16, 2025, the UEC also released two official announcements: Announcement No. 68/2025, outlining the code of conduct for domestic election observers, and Announcement No. 69/2025, which details the procedures they must follow.
These announcements can be viewed and downloaded from the UEC's official website at https://www.uec.gov.mm. The UEC wishes to announce that international election observers will also be permitted to observe the multi-party democracy general election.
Invitations will be extended directly to representatives from relevant countries and international organizations, as well as to representatives from foreign embassies, consulates, and permanent representative offices that have diplomatic relations with the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
