Albanese meets Modi, ceremonial reception

Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is visiting New Delhi as part of his four-day visit to India. Albanese briefly watched a cricket test match between Indian and Australian teams in Ahmedabad and met India's business leaders in Mumbai, and visited India’s homemade aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

A bilateral trade agreement that came into force in December last year is expected to vastly tap the trade potential between the two countries. In the 2022 fiscal year, India was Australia’s ninth largest trading partner and they hope to double trade in the next five years.

Their defense relationship now encompasses information exchanges; military exercises involving ground, air and maritime forces; exchanges and training; and defense scientific and technological cooperation.
