





Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe met with Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Soe Thein and officials on Wednesday, and discussed for cultivation of rice and green gram with the use of State Economic Promotion Fund.
The Union Minister also met with departmental staff, officials from Myanmar Rice Federation, Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association, Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association, local businessmen and farmers.
The Union Minister discussed for timely distribution of agriculture inputs to the farmers, and stressed the needs to follow the procedures for boosting production. About 200,000 acres of green gram and 40,000 acres summer paddy have been targeted to cultivated in Yangon Region.
It is learnt that the agriculture inputs needed for paddy and green gram farmers will be provided with 1% service fee without loan disbursement, while farmers have to pay back the price for fertilizers by selling paddy and green grams with the market price.
Those who remained debts at the Agriculture Development Bank will also have to pay back the 25% of the remaining loan amounts through the sales of paddy and green grams.
The Union Minister and party also met with departmental staff, officials, local businessmen from Khayan, ThoneGwa, KawtHmu, KyaukTan, Thanlyin and Hlegu Townships at Hlegu Generation Administration Department and discussed for successful implementation of green gram and summer paddy cultivation projects to be carried out with the use of State Economic Promotion Fund.
