Agricultural Sector: Importance Of Research & Education Programmes

‘Agricultural research and education programmes are important’ – Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo made the remark in the meeting with concerned officials at Lwai Mway Agricultural Education Farm in Kengtung Township.

He also urged the officials from Agricultural Education farms to seek effective technology for farming. The Union Minister also met with coffee and tea leaf growers in Lwai Mway Village-tract and stressed the need to use advanced technology before pledging to provide assistance and fulfill the requirements.

There, he also provided pure coffee and tea leaf strains to the growers. Also, the Union Minister inspected the laboratory processes at the animal disease control center (Kengtung) in eastern Shan State, and stressed the laboratory upgrade.

The Union Minister also visited Kengtung Agricultural Research Farm, and urged the officials to distribute the researched paddy, bean and corn strains to farmers and growers. Also, he visited the East Mekong private hog farm, and called for a upgraded slaughterhouse before having a discussion on the land-use affair.

In the area, the Union Minister also inspected a rubber farm and inspected agricultural education processes.
