





A technology demonstration program for research staff on the Participatory Varietal Selection method was held on November 10 at the farm of the Department of Agricultural Research, Yezin, Nay Pyi Taw.
During the technology demonstration, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut made a discussion on the fundamental principles of the Selected Bulk Method, differences between the Pedigree and Bulk Methods, plant physiological data and other factors.
Following the session, participants conducted a field visit to observe and assess the research results. Afterward, the Deputy Minister met with the experts and discussed the need to continue agricultural extension and technology dissemination activities with balanced momentum and acceleration, the necessity of systematically preparing the Breeding Standard Operating Procedure and the requirement to give special focus to the work of obtaining varieties adapted to climate change.
Similarly, the Deputy Minister encouraged the experts involved in cross-breeding work to further enhance research and development efforts by leveraging the importance of AI technology and effectively utilizing it.
