




Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, accompanied by regional government members, conducted a field inspection in Bago Region (West) on 29 January to assess food sufficiency measures. At a 20-acre Yesin Paw San paddy plantation in Thin Taw Yoe Village-tract, Thayawaddy Township, the Chief Minister met with local farmers and noted the strong market value of Paw San paddy.
He instructed that targeted cultivation zones need to be implemented in selected townships to increase farmers’ incomes and that awareness campaigns must be carried out to widely disseminate cultivation techniques.
The Chief Minister and party also inspected local poultry and duck farms in A Lae Kone and Kwin Gyi wards and instructed to expand production from manageable scales into designated local poultry farming zones. They then proceeded to Ma Gyi Pin Village-tract in Paungde Township and reviewed a mung bean pilot plantation using natural fertilizers. They heard reports on improved foliage, higher yields, greater resistance to pests and diseases and reduced pesticide and input costs.
The Chief Minister instructed for the use of natural fertilizers and expansion of cattle farming.
