Activities in Mon State : Cleaning campaign and agricultural development

The Mon State government is carrying out cleaning and beautification activities at pagodas, religious buildings and tourist destination areas across the state to ensure peace and tranquility for Buddhist pilgrims.

As part of these efforts, departmental officials, members of the Myanmar Police Force, fire brigade members and local residents conducted a joint cleaning activity at Kusinarone Buddhawin Pagoda in Mawlamyaing Township on Saturday.

Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, together with state ministers and officials observed the activity and encouraged the participants while instructing for the systematic maintenance of religious buildings. The Chief Minister and party later attended a demonstration of the model plantation development project for the mung bean value chain in Kawt Pauk Village.

They heard reports on the cultivation status of oil and vegetable crops in Kawt Sein, Kawt Pauk, and Kawt Toon villages, as well as the perennial crops including coconut, banana, and betel. Officials from Moe Saung Nay Chi Company and TBL Company briefed on the implementation of the winter oil crops and mung bean value chain development project in three villages.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to expand cultivation of regionally suitable oil crops to achieve food security and higher yields. He assured that the state government would provide inputs and support for farmers. He then coordinated the needs for the construction of manufacturing roads, bridges and street electricity access.

The Chief Minister and party later inspected the thriving TBL-9 mung bean plantation of a local farmer in Kawt Pauk Village.
