44 rescued after Vietnamese ship sinks in South China Sea

A Vietnamese vessel sank on Saturday after encountering distress in waters near the Nansha Islands in the South China Sea. Out of total of 62 people, 44 were rescued on Sunday. All those rescued are Vietnamese nationals from the distressed vessel. Authorities said that Chinese vessels as well as one rescue helicopter are carrying out search and rescue operations at the scene.
