3rd Monsoon Tree-planting Ceremony: SSPC Chairman led the planting of star flower sapling

The third monsoon tree-planting ceremony for 2025 was held in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, near the Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township on September 16.

The Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, attended the event and led the planting of a star flower sapling. In his speech, the Acting President SSPC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stated that in line with the national policy of "Let's preserve the environment for the prosperity of the state," the government is leading tree-planting ceremonies with the participation of the public.

These events are aimed at creating a green and beautiful environment, promoting a healthy and balanced ecosystem, preventing natural disasters, and ensuring stable and favorable weather. He announced that 3,000 saplings of 18 different species would be planted at the event, including shade trees that produce colorful and fragrant flowers.

He noted that the perennial trees being planted are part of a special project, planted at the precinct of Maravijaya Buddha Image, which is the tallest and largest marvel sitting Buddha Image in the world. He said the trees were specifically chosen to ensure the area is fragrant with blossoms throughout the year.

The 18 species include Padauk, Star Flower, Gantgaw, Ingyin, neem, Yellow Champac, Panama-Golden Shower, and Swedaw or white orchid. He urged everyone to work together to ensure the survival of every tree planted, emphasizing that proper management and preservation of trees and forests nationwide is a national duty that all citizens must participate in.

Following his speech, the Acting President SSPC Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing led the planting of a star flower sapling in the designated area. After that, the attendees, including Commission Vice chairman Vice Senior General Soe Win, the Commission's Executive Chief U Aung Lin Dwe, Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union-level dignitaries, Union Ministers, honored guests, students and civil servants from various ministries, all participated in planting the saplings.
