31st Southeast Asian Games: Canoe Rowers Undergone Training For SEA Games

The selected canoe rowers from Myanmar Rowing and Canoeing Federation is undergoing training for the competition in the upcoming SEA Games.

The 31st South East Asian Games will be held from May 12 to 23 in Hanoi of Vietnam.

Myanmar will take part in 13 types of Canoe events and they are trying their utmost to win the medals for the country.

Head Coach (Canoe), Khin Maung Myint said “There are 13 types in the competition of Canoe race and 7 for men and 6 for women competitions. We are providing training the rowers for 6 days a week, from 7 am to 11am in the morning and 3 pm to 5:30 pm in the evening. The athletes follow COVID-19 procedures and they are preparing actively for the SEA Games to win medals. Now, they are ready for the competition.”

A total of 16 rowers, 11 men and 5 women, will compete in the Canoe events at the SEA Games.

Rower, ThetPhyo Naing said “I’m going to participate in Canoe Rowing for 1,000,500 and 200 meter  race for C-1 and 1,000,500,200 meter for C-4 in Vietnam SEA Games. The trainers are good at training and the training process is almost done. I used to row traditional boat before. I hope to win the medal but the Canoe is the new race and wish the result will be good at the competition.”

Myanmar Canoe Teams, including the rowers, 2 trainers and a supervisor will leave from Yangon on May 13 for the SEA Games.
