31st SEA Games: Myanmar Will Compete In 20 Types Of Sports

The winner athletes in the upcoming SEA Games will be awarded the additional cash prizes by the Government.

The 31st SEA Games will be hosted in Vietnam from 12th to 23rdMay.

About 293 athletes from Myanmar will compete in 20 types of sports and those who grab gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded with30 million, 20 million and 10 million kyats respectively for the individual events.

Director, Sports & Physical Education Department, Htay Aung said “In 31st SEA Games, there will be 526 events in 40 type of sports and we planned to compete in 285 events in 20 sports. For Myanmar Sports Team, we hope to grab 12 gold medals, 18 silver medals and 30 bronze medals, totaling 60 medals from 20 types of sports in this year.”

The selected athletes for the upcoming 31st SEA Games are undergoing training to grab the wining medals for national honor.

Director, Sports & Physical Education Department, Htay Aung said “Myanmar is rank at 7th place in SEA games every year. To be promoting the rank, young people and students need to take an interest in sports and expand community sports; it will contribute to the health and fitness of the whole nation. And new generation of brilliant young people will continue to emerge.”

Myanmar won 4 gold, 18 silver and 51 bronze medals in the 30th SEA Games, held in the Philippines.
