




24 hours health care services are being provided for the newborn baby patients undertaking treatment in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Mandalay 550-bedded Children’s Hospital.
According to the responsible officials of the hospital, the healthcare services are being rendered the unhealthy infant patients from Upper Myanmar including provincial towns and far-flung areas like Kachin and Chin states with the lowest cost of treatment.
Medical Superintendent, 550-Bedded Children’s Hospital (Mandalay), Dr. Myo Min said "We are trying to be able to give international level healthcare services for the infants at our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We use as much government provided medicines as possible. Nurses stand here only to administer injections while giving treatment for the infants. In fact, pharmacists from the pharmaceutical universities need to compound required medicines before giving injections for low-birthweight babies."
He continued that, mothers of new born babies rely on this central level hospital and come here for the neonatal treatments.
Medical Superintendent, 550 Bedded Children’s Hospital (Mandalay), Dr. Myo Min said "We’ve arranged Mothers Room here. The Pediatricians, Neonatologists and Nurses perform the best their duties with good intensions. And they’re really delighted to see when well-treated babies go back home recovering from the diseases. We are also putting much efforts in case of babies and mothers to discharge from the hospital along with the feelings of happiness and healthy for sure."
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Mandalay 550-bedded Children’s Hospital was built with the professionals from Korea in 2019 and health care services are being rendered.
In-charge, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Wai Lin Tun (Neonatologist) said "Most of the babies in this unit are of low-birthweight and premature birth like even babies who weigh less than 1 pound. Most occurrence diseases are asphyxias, jaundices, infections and respiratory disorders and we can give such treatments here in one place. The neonate patients here get medicines and oxygen for fully enough. Depends on prematurity and underweight of birth, the needy temperature, steaming and nutrients are given for the babies like being inside the mother’s womb plus not to get infections until we get sufficient weight -it’d take 2 to 3 months."
At present, 80 neonate patients are being treated at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Mandalay 550-bedded Children’s Hospital which is the biggest children’s hospital in Upper Myanmar including Cardiac Unit for the children so that it can be traced the heart diseases and treated also. Likewise, it can be requested to the medical staffs from this department and concerned officials from management level if there are any difficulties as the treatments for neonate patients take long days and months, it’s learnt.
