2025 World Ozone Day: Commemoration Ceremony Held in Magway

The commemoration ceremony for the 2025 World Ozone Day was held on the morning of September 16 at the City Hall in Magway. Magway Region Government Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the event and delivered the opening address.

In his opening address at the ceremony, the Region Chief Minister stated that Myanmar has been commemorating World Ozone Day annually since 1995, and this year marks the 30th occasion. He noted that this year’s World Ozone Day theme is "From Science To Global Action: Elevating Ozone Layer Protection Worldwide through Science." He emphasized that through the 2025 World Ozone Day commemoration, he encourages relevant departments, private organizations, engineers and technicians working in cooling technology, company owners, students who are the today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders and the public to actively and positively participate in efforts to preserve the ozone layer, mitigate climate change, and continue providing protection to humans and all living beings on Earth through a healthy ozone layer.

Following this, the ceremony featured the screening of a video message from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, a video message from the Executive Director of UNEP, and an awareness video clip commemorating World Ozone Day.

Subsequently, the Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and officials presented awards to the winners of the 2025 World Ozone Day Commemoration University-Level, Education Degree College-Level and the Basic Education High School and Middle School-Level Essay Competitions.

It is reported that the Chief Minister, members of the Region Government, and officials then took commemorative photos with the winners and toured the World Ozone Day awareness exhibition and the essays and compositions of the competition winners.
