11th ASEAN Para Game 2022: Myanmar Disable Track & Field Athletes Undergoing Training

Myanmar selected athletes for para sports are undergoing camp training for the 11th ASEAN Para Game 2022.

The event will be hosted by Indonesia from 30th July to 6th August in Solo City.

For the track and filed competition, 17 athletes are undergoing camp training since November last year with the close supervision of the coaches.

Aung Thu Htun, Head Coach (Track and Field), Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation said “There are 17 athletes and 4 coaches including me. We began camp training for the athletes on 1st November 2021. We train them from 6:00am to 8:00am in the morning and from 4:00pm to 5:30 or 6:00pm in the evening.”

The athletes were also provided with the COVID-19 vaccine, and also nutritious foods were arranged for ensuring physical health and fitness.

Kyaw Kyaw Win, Athlete said “I have been participating in the Para Games in 2013 which was hosted in Myanmar. So far, I have won 3 gold, 3 silver and 4bronze medals. I’m ready for 11thASEAN Para Game and I am confident for the competition. I’m trying to set new record for track and field competition. We have been administered COVID-19 vaccine, and there is an assigned doctor in this camp. The coaches also made detailed instructions to arrange nutritious foods for the athletes.”

The ASEAN Para Games has been held every two years in the ASEAN member countries since 2001. The first ASEAN Para Games was hosted in Malaysia with the participation of more than 700 athletes and officials from Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The 10th ASEAN Para Games was scheduled to host in Viet Nam and it has been cancelled due to the spread of global pandemic.
