
The ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) hosted AMRO’s 10th Anniversary Celebration Event through a videoconference Tuesday afternoon. Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Than Nyein, Deputy Governors U Win Thaw and Daw Than Than Swe and officials from the Central Bank of Myanmar attended the event.
Finance Ministers and Deputy Ministers from ASEAN + 3 Member States, Central Bank Governors and Deputy Governors, representatives from invited organizations and universities, director, and deputy directors from ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office, economists and staff also joined the event.
On the occasion, the Director of the ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office gave an opening speech and Minister of Finance and National Development and Office of the Prime Minister of Singapore delivered a keynote speech. The Ministers of Economy and Finance of Brunei Darussalam, Republic of Korea, People’s Republic of China and Indonesia delivered video messages. Then, the annual ceremony was held with two parts.
In the first part, under the title: Trauma to Triumph: Rising from the Ashes of the Asian Financial Crisis, AMRO economist Mr Khor Hoe Ee acted as moderator and former Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Thailand, Central Bank of the Philippines and the Central Bank of Indonesia, Monetary Authority of Singapore and Honorary Professor from the University of Tokyo joined the discussion.
In the second part of of the seminar was organized by the Office of ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research (AMRO) and The Decade Ahead: AMRO and Regional Financial Cooperation. Executive Director from European Stability Mechanism, Chief Representative of BIS (Bank for International Settlements) Asia-Pacific and Director of ASEAN + 3 Macroeconomic Research Office participated in the discussion.
