Work Undertakings: Land use policy, hydropower projects, education and golf event

Kachin State Land Use Committee held a work coordination meeting on December 29th. Chairman of the Committee Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan discussed the need to make systematic management on using the lance resources in the state, abiding by the directives and policies of the National Land Use Committee for sustainable development.

The meeting discussed the work progress on the decisions of the first meeting, land use condition in the state. Afterwards, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan attended a work coordination meeting for implementing hydropower projects in PutaO and Khaunglanphu Townships. The state government plans to implement hydropower projects on Mula Creek and Ahtan Creek for sufficient supply of electricity in PutaO District.

It is estimated to generate 7,900 kilowatt hours electricity from Mula Creek and 700 to 1,000 kilowatt hours from Ahtan Creek respectively. The feasibility studies have already done and the results were submitted to the Ministry of Electric Power.

Mula Creek hydropower project is planned to implement by the State and the Ahtan project by the local company. The Chief Minister instructed the need to carry out the tasks in line with the rules and regulations.

Subsequently, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan held a meeting with State, District and Township Education Officers and community elders from Talawgyi Station. The Chief Minister discussed plans to open exam centers for Grade-12 students and arrangements for welfare of education staff who are taking refuge temporarily.

The Chief Minister later attended the Christmas Festival of Township Development Affairs Committee, and provided rice and eggs for the staff. Earlier in the morning, the Chief Minister participated in the opening ceremony of Christmas and Harvest Festival Cup Golf tournament at Myitkyina Golf Club. 31 golf teams joined the tournament, and the Chief Minister and party cordially greeted them.
