Thingyan in Yangon: Celebration with cheerful spirit

In Yangon Region, people enjoyed the traditional Thingyan Festival, visiting the pandals and walking Thingyan area by car or on foot.
At the Yangon Mayor’s Pandal, Yein dance from departments as well as artists entertained the revelers with various Thingyan songs and dances. Chief Minister U Soe Thein and wife, together with officials joined the celebration, enjoying the performances.
At the Walking Thingyan in People’s Square, pandals were thronged with crowd of revelers, enjoying the entertainment by artists from movie and music fields as well as DJ groups. Being the auspicious time, people enjoy themselves performing the meritorious deeds at the monasteries and pagodas while donating charity feasts.
