Senegal opposition candidate Faye wins election

Senegalese opposition politician Diomaye Faye has won Sunday's presidential election, defeating the candidate of the ruling coalition by a clear margin after a tight poll, according to preliminary results released on Monday.

The Senegal Electoral Commission said Faye had won 53.68% of the vote when the ruling coalition candidate Amadou Ba won 36.2% of the vote, with 90% of the results from polling stations counted. Faya become the youngest president of the country at aged 44.
