Mining waste, residual waters, garbage in Lake Titicaca

Lake Titicaca in South America which has become a dump for solid domestic trash, residual waters, and mining waste from urban, industrial centers, and mine tailings areas. Amid a severe drought, local residents struggle with daily challenges, including the loss of fish, plants, and clean water for their animals due to pervasive pollution.

In that area, 20 million cubic meters of untreated or ineffectively treated wastewater plus 800 tons of garbage per year are discharged into the rivers. Algae increase rapidly with the presence of pollutants and decrease the remains of oxygen from the water. Community authorities gathered to collective waste collection work but they demand to the government treatment plants.
