The Oversea Employment Supervisory Committee held its meeting at the Ministry of Labour on Friday.

The meeting was graced by the presence of Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung, serving as the committee chairman, Committee Vice Chairman Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, along with concerned officials. The Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand and Labour Attache participated remotely.

The meeting delved into various crucial topics, including the collection of tax and e-ID data at CI Issuance Stations, the official remittance process for migrant workers, ensuring the rights of CI workers, and the facilitation of employment contracts through the MOU U-turn system. Since February 2024, five stations and three mobile units have been operational for issuing Certificates of Identity (CIs), with over 160,000 certificates already distributed as of April 4th.

Furthermore, MOU U-turn stations have been active in Myawady and Kawtthoung since September 2023, offering One-Stop Service for issuing Overseas Workers Identity Cards (OWIC). Since January of the current year, an online service has been introduced to streamline the workflow of licensed Oversea Employment Agencies, enhancing convenience and efficiency.

Plans are underway to incorporate women migrant workers into the Employment Permit System (EPS) for working opportunity in Korea.
