Kobe Port Tower to reopen after lengthy revamp

Kobe Port Tower, a landmark tourist attraction in Hyogo Prefecture of western Japan, will reopen this week following a large-scale renovation. Media were invited to the site in the port city of Kobe for a preview on Tuesday, ahead of the public opening on Friday.

The 108-meter sightseeing landmark originally opened in 1963. It has been getting a revamp, including a quake resistance upgrade, and will open for business for the first time in about 2 years and 7 months.A new rooftop observation deck with a panoramic view of Kobe Port and the commercial districts has been added. Visitors can enjoy shopping on the lower floors, where admission is free.
