To improve tennis sport standard: 2023 State & Region Tennis Competition launched

With the aim for emerging new generation athletes from Region and States and to improve Myanmar’s tennis sport standard, the 2023 State and Region Tennis Competition launched at the Thein Phyu Tennis Court in Yangon on Monday.

At the event, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein stressed tennis players to improve tennis sport standard while widely playing tennis sport throughout the nation while strengthening more friendship among the players from regions and states and to try hard to become selected players who can bring pride for the nation.

He also called on them to compete the competitions with sportmen spirit for gaining success for their Region and State teams and the referees were also told to make fair and correct decision. Afterwards, the participating tennis players took an oath.

After a cordial greetings to the athletes, the Yangon Region Chief Minister, the Regional Ministers and officials from the Sports and Physical Education Department and the Myanmar Tennis Federation opened the competition and observed the 1st day events.

The 2023 State and Region Tennis Tournament will be held from 22nd to 28th May and 15 men teams and 12 women teams from regions and states, a total of 162 members including supervisors, coaches, and players will participate in the event at the Thein Phyu Tennis Court. Anyone can enjoy the events with free of charge.
