Children in a camp for displaced Gaza residents receive psychological support sessions with face-painting, singing, and kite-flying.

The camp is located in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million displaced Palestinians have been sheltering amid the war. According to UNICEF, at least 17,000 children, or 1% of the 1.7 million displaced population in the Gaza Strip, are unaccompanied or separated.

Since before the war began, UNICEF reported, more than 500,000 children already needed mental health and psychosocial support in the Gaza Strip, and this number has now risen to more than a million.
