Efficient Use of Energy: Workshop on Energy Security and Transition

A Workshop on Energy Security and Transition took place at the Ministry of Energy on Friday.

Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin discussed the crucial role of energy security for national development as well as for economic progress and environmental conservation. He added that the ministry is striving to fulfill the demand of oil and natural gas by laying down short and long term plans.

At the same time, emphasis has been paid for energy transition process in order to promote the use of renewal energy sources. In this process, the natural gas has to be used inevitably as a clean energy source before transition to green energy. He stressed the need to strive for exploration of new oil and natural gas fields both inland and offshore plots.

He urged all to make necessary measures for laying down the policy, infrastructures and work plans. The attendees later discussed the need of natural gas, distribution condition, LNG price and efficient usage, oil and natural gas pipeline network and future plans.
