Clean-up efforts after cyclone Belal hit French island

After cyclone alert is downgraded, roadwork crews removed branches from main road to allow emergency services.

Cyclone Belal hit Reunion, one of France's overseas territories that span the globe from the Caribbean to the Pacific.

French Interior Minister will spend on Wednesday on the island at the request of President of France Macron in solidarity with those affected and to support rescue work.

He said a full survey of damage had yet to be completed.
