China's polar icebreaker Xuelong 2 is scheduled to visit the country's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region next month, according to the event organizer on Saturday. The vessel will make its inaugural appearance in Hong Kong on 8th April for a five-day visit, accompanied by several top-tier scientists.
It will be open for public visits free of charge from April 9 to 12. The vessel is equipped to conduct scientific research in regions with high ice density and gather data on hydrology, chemistry, and ecology. Currently, the vessel is en route back to China after retrieving the expedition members from the Qinling Station in early March.
