Better Transportation: New road opened in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region

The opening ceremony of 4-lane asphalt concrete road was held in grandeur at Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region on Friday, as a gesture of honoring the 79th anniversary Armed Forces Day. Speaking on the occassion, Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko highlighted the importance of trasportation sector, saying that priority is being given to the transportation development every year in cooperation with the relevant ministries.

The Chief Minister pointed out the constant efforts of the regional government to develop the transportation sector in a balanced manner for further development of local residents, under the guidance of the State Administration Council.

He called for cooperation in all aspects to ensure long-term sustainability of roads and bridges, which contributes to the progress of Tanintharyi Region. After the Chief MInister’s speech, the official from Dawei Township Developement Committee reported the opening of new AC road.

This was followed by the ceremonial ribbon cutting of new AC road by the Chief Minister and concerned officials. And, the Region Transport Minister and Director  of Region Development Committee presented memorable gifts to the officials.

Then, Chief Minister distributed the honorable prizes to the dance troupes and toured the new AC road. The 5,514 feet long 4-lane concrete road construction project was implemented with more than 1.5 billion kyats budget allotment of Regional Government Surplus Fund for 2023-24 FY by the Dawei Township Development Committee. Upon completion, the road will offer swift flow of commodities especially, the marine products, contributing to the socio-economic development of the residents and beautification of city.
