Awarding Ceremony: 2026 Region and State Weightlifting Competition

The 2026 Region and State Weightlifting Competition concluded on Wednesday at the Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex in Nay Pyi Taw.

The seven-day competition, held from October 29 to November 4, aimed to promote the development of weightlifting and encourage emerging athletes. A total of 130 athletes from 12 men's teams and eight women's teams representing regions and states participated in the competition.

On the final day, male athletes competed in the 85kg, 95kg and over-95kg categories in both the Snatch and Clean and Jerk events.

Yangon Region won the women's championship with 159 points, while Sagaing Region secured the men's championship with 170 points. Yangon Region also claimed the overall team championship with 311 points.

The Best Female Athlete award went to Naw Eh Kanyaw Jawt from Ayeyawady Region, while Htet Arkar Phyo from Magway Region received the Best Male Athlete award. Athletes who achieved new records during the competition were also recognized and presented with awards, trophies and cash prizes.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Sports Affairs in cooperation with the Sports and Physical Education Department and the Myanmar Weightlifting Federation.
