Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday announced a historic new "strategic partnership" during the first-ever bilateral visit to Turkiye by a Canadian prime minister. The partnership revives and deepens defense-industrial cooperation following past restrictions on arms exports, focusing on common security and aerospace technology.

The two countries finalized an updated air transport agreement increasing weekly passenger flights between Canada and Turkiye alongside expanded cooperation in energy and infrastructure.
