The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) held the second day of discussions with representatives of political parties in Nay Pyi Taw to advance the peace process and build a Union based on democracy and federal system.

NSPNC member Lt. Gen Aye Win (Retired) discussed Union and Region/State government relations, constitutional amendments and the division of powers, calling for open and transparent discussions on federalism. Leader of the political parties’ working group Dr. Aung Myat Oo highlighted the need to amend the 2008 Constitution to improve relations between the Union and Region/State governments, ensuring a strong Union.

Political party representatives then emphasized the appropriate division of legislative, executive and judicial powers, clear responsibilities at each level of government, and regional development based on local needs. Lt. Gen Aye Win (Retired) also reviewed existing and pending legislation under the Union and Region/State Legislative Lists.

NSPNC Secretary Lt. Gen Min Naing called for broader political party participation in the peace process, collective representation of participating parties and practical measures for continued coordination and implementation. The consolidated points of agreement were signed after the discussions.
