President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador welcomed Costa Rican President Laura Fernández at the Presidential Palace on Saturday in San Salvador for an official state visit. The central agenda item focused on security policies, combating organized drug trafficking, and managing correctional infrastructure.

As part of her visit, President Fernández scheduled an itinerary to examine El Salvador's high-security penitentiary model—specifically the Terrorism Confinement Center to assess operational strategies for Costa Rica's security and prison reform initiatives.
