The First Coordination Meeting of the ASEAN Affairs Committee was held on October 13, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe.

In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stated that in addition to Myanmar’s regular channels of engagement with ASEAN, a dedicated committee was established to enhance cooperation and interaction with the ASEAN. Although ASEAN has engaged in discriminatory treatment toward Myanmar since 2021, Myanmar, as the responsible member state, has implemented the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus as far as possible in line with the Five-Point Roadmap laid down during the tenure of State Administration Council, without hampering the national sovereignty and national interests.

Myanmar continues to engage bilateral, country-by-country basis with the ASEAN member states. Following the Union Minister's speech, the Vice Chairman of the Committee, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, detailed the point-by-point implementation of the ASEAN Five-Point Consensus in alignment with the Union Government's roadmaps. Attending representatives then took part in the discussions and made recommendations on the pursuit of Myanmar-led and home-grown normalization strategy aimed at restoring its full status and participation within ASEAN.
